Kimm Dewitt

Mr. DeWitt has been involved in fleet maintenance, transportation, and logistics for over 48 years. He began his career at Schneider Transportation as a mechanic.  He quickly rose to shift leader where he was responsible for major accident rebuild, in-processing center for all new tractors, engine rebuild department, and general repair for the non–union division of Schneider National at a remote facility. Under Kimm’s direction, mechanic capacity at this facility grew from 5 to 29 over a two year period.

Kimm later became the Maintenance Manager Schneider Bulk Carriers, responsible for 4 maintenance facilities and chemical tank washes to include the startup of 3 facilities. He then managed Schneider’s Dedicated fleet and was responsible for managing all maintenance provided outside of the Schneider
National Maintenance System and for the Bulk and Specialized divisions including budgets.  His next

role was a regional director responsible for 5 of Schneider Nationals maintenance facilities to include 175 mechanics and driver services.

 

After leading Schneider Maintenance, Kimm joined GENCO as the Director of Fleet Services.  It was there he designed and implemented training modules and processes to improve fleet maintenance operations including equipment specification, facility layout that improved productivity, and training of frontline leader selection, development process improvement training and implementation.


In 2005 Mr. DeWitt decided to leave GENCO to take a position as Vice President Shop Operations at Bandag, Inc.  There he led the creation of a fleet maintenance operation for CRST Van Expedited in Cedar Rapids, IA.  He worked with Master Fleet’s owners and leaders on the design of what is now the 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Green Bay, WI.  In addition, DeWitt designed a new maintenance facility for American Central Transportation in Kansas City, MO, to include set up the total operation including parts and tooling. He created the personnel structure, work shifts, equipment scheduling, safety and compliance, and cost reporting and assisted with the selection of the leadership team and hiring of technicians.


In 2009 Kimm accepted the position of Director of Fleet Maintenance at Master Fleet. In this capacity, Kimm has helped several fleets improve their maintenance operations and has provided Center of Excellence training to technicians and leaders within Master Fleet. 
In 2013 Kimm accepted the position of General Manager of Master Fleet, LLC a full service maintenance provider with 3 shops in Northeast Wisconsin. Master Fleet provides fleet maintenance and fleet maintenance consulting to over 200 truck fleets including some of the nations’ largest (Schneider National, JB Hunt, Werner, YRC, Saia, USF Holland, and Gordon).  In November of 2016 Kimm retired from full time and is now working part time as a fleet maintenance consultant for Master Fleet National.


Mr. DeWitt served on the advisory board with the Fox Valley Technical School, Appleton, WI and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  He also served as a past member of NTTC.
